Boxes

Look at these fun Boxes I found! They are from Fabrica Features and are distributed by Seletti. What I think is the really fun part about these boxes is obviously the prints and graphics that are on the lid of the box. Each box has different pictures and figures on top, that represent what you are storing in that box. For example: A box with a camera on it, is storing photos. A box with kitchen appliances on it, is storing cooking recipes. A box with a suitcase on it, is storing traveling things. Pretty genius, right?
I really love these boxes, and the idea behind it. I like that it is so simple, so easy and yet so beautiful and creative! What better way to remember where you put things, than to have different prints to represent them on top of the box? You'll never have to open a million different boxes to find that one thing you were looking for again. I would like to own these in every kind they've got, and I would have them on display so that everyone could see how cool they are. I guess because I love graphics, these really appeal to me.
Each box is made out of metal, and has a print on top of it in either a pretty color or in just black. You can get them in so many different styles and prints, that you are bound to find one that you like. I think that we have so much stuff just cluttering up our homes, and we just put them away in a closet or in a drawer.... Or worse, let them lie around for everyone to see. Why not put them in a pretty box, so that you know where your stuff is, it helps you organize better and it makes your home clutter free!

Beam Table Lamp

This wonderful little lamp is called the Beam Table Lamp and it is designed by Christian Vivanco. The idea behind Beam was to make a small lamp that is focused on the materials and feeling at the interaction moment with its user. It is made out of a solid block of pine and a thermoformed mma sheet. Christian explains that the project came about accidentally after talking with various local lumberyards, “There I got the chance to realize how beautiful wood can be against an urban background, planks and beams stacked one above the other, some of them rough and other refined. Then it struck me, how interesting it could be to give proper respect to the material and its basic physical qualities; weight, texture, appearance, etc."

I really love this tiny lamp! I mostly love it because of the strong and bold colors, but also because of the functionality and the mixture between the bright colors and subtle wooden material that is used for the base. The good thing about a small table lamp is that it can have a lot of colors and a lot happening, without it ever getting "too much". It has its size on its side! The designer, Christian, selected materials that seemed to fit together perfectly, and I totally agree that this was a good choice. He also wanted to enhance the lamp’s relationship with the user, and rounded the edges so he could create a hugging effect of the hand when holding the lamp! Colorful, tiny, cute and modern... Could one ask for more in a table lamp?
I had to post this drawing also, off course. If you have followed my blog, you know that I just illustrative pictures, drawings and sketches... Bare with me, haha! If you would like to read more about the Beam or the designer, you have to visit www.christianvivanco.com.

Analog Group

This is the Analog Group and it is designed by Jonas Damon. Jonas is the Frog Design's Creative Director, and he came up with these three brilliant pieces to use with your Apple products. This is how he describes the idea- and building process of one of the pieces:
"Last summer I had some fun with my iPad, and built a wooden housing for it that was shaped like an old cathode-ray tube TV set, complete with the bump in the back. It found a nice following online, and also served as inspiration for a two other objects like it, rounding out my ‘Analog Group’."
This first one is called the Alarm Dock and it is an iPhone cradle that resembles an old-school flip clock. This is also a dock for your iPhone, so that you charge it while it works as a clock for you. You just buy a flip clock app for your phone, and it will look like the picture above. Love it!
This is the Radio Dock and it is a housing for either an iPod or an iPhone. It resembles an old radio, and is a portable dock. You just load your songs into your pod or phone, and the speakers in the wooden radio will work just as well as any other dock. Genius!
This last one called CRT and is the housing for the iPad. It is inspired by the old cathode-ray tube TV set, and I just love how Jonas Damon has taken such new and modern technology and put them together with familiar and classic pieces that once were high-tec electronics! I love, love, love the Analog Group, and I would love to own this series one day.

If you also love the Analog Group and want to see or read more about it, you have to visit either www.jonasdamon.blogspot.com or www.designmind.frogdesign.com.

Clamp Chair

These colorful lovelies are the Clamp chairs and they are designed by Andreas Kowalewski. The designers intention was to design a comfortable yet simple wooden chair, which reveals the beauty of the wood material and the skills of the craftsman. The Clamp principle shapes the chair consistently and determines its character, by interlocking the legs, corpus, seat and backrest structurally as well as visually and forms eventually a seamless unity of all elements. This chair is made from a single piece of molded plywood and the upholstered backrest embraces the body of the user like a shell. In other words, this chair is made for comfort!
I really love these chairs! I think the colorful textile on the seat is so wonderful, and the different wooden bases of the chairs that match the colors you choose for your chair perfectly. The structure of the chair is very eye-catching and I like how the whole chair just flows together in a wonderful composition. The structure details are stunning, and all in all this is a really artistic chair. I would love to own a couple of these chairs, and I would use them either as dining room chairs or side chairs. I really like the blue chair the best, because I'm a bigger fan of light wood than dark wood. The wood is high quality, and each of the wooden parts of the chairs were carefully selected in terms of coloring and grain.
Oh, these wonderful sketches! I've said it before and I'll say it again: I just love them, and I think it's so fascinating to see what the idea process of the designer was. Do you agree? Either way, if you want to see more from the designer or more about these chairs, you have to visit www.andreaskowalewski.com.

Clip Chair

These chairs are called the Clip Chairs and they are created by designer Sebastian Herkner Studio for De Vorm in 2011. De Vorm is focusing on the environment, so this chair is eco-friendly and does not waste any materials during the production process. These chairs are made out of selected ash wood and vinyl, and are high-quality and detail-oriented. "The idea behind the Clip is the coloring of the attachment between the back and the legs of the chair, whereas the color stands in direct contrast to the wooden elements." says the designer.
I really love these chairs! Their appearance, their form and the way they are produced. One of my favorite colors are blue, and the fact that all they chairs are in a blue-ish tone makes me like them even more. The small black details on the backrest is the icing on top, and I can't point out one thing I don't like about these chairs. The Clip Chair is one of my new favorites, and I would really like to own a whole set of them!
If you love these chair as much as I do, want to read more about these chairs or the designer, you have to visit www.sebastianherkner.com.

Windmaker

This amazing analogue fan is called the Windmaker and is created by dutch designer Luc van Hoeckel. The driving cog mechanism is inspired by the traditional cuckoo clock. When you lift up the weight the wooden blade begins to spin, circulating air and refreshing your room in minutes. What is great about this fan is that it doesn't need electricity!
This fan is not only pretty to look at as a sculpture piece, but it is environmentally friendly and useful at the same time. It is made out of Oak wood and has a very natural appearance. I really like how the fan looks like a clock, but really is something totally different. This fan shows how you can take inspiration from something classic with a different purpose and function than what you are planning on creating. I really love this fan, I would much rather have this hanging on my wall than an old metal fan hanging from my ceiling.
If you want to see more from the designer or read more about the Windmaker, you have to visit www.lucvanhoeckel.nl.

Slope

This desk is called the Slope and it is designed by Thomas Jenkins for Jenk Design. It is an occasional desk for the home and for those who are working at home or from the home. What is great about this desk is that the angled top gives a more ergonomically correct working surface and makes you more effective and comfortable while working. It has an opening storage area with two "rooms" which is supposed to give you a physical barrier between your work things and private things.
There are multiple great things about this desk, and one obvious reason is that the storage area makes your workspace less cluttered and you always know where you have put your things. The desk come with two accompanying wedges that keep your drink level while working, and stops your pen from rolling away from you. The desk is, in other words, perfect for working and perfect for leisure time. It is made out of a mix of birch veneer MDF and plywood and the legs are solid maple.
I actually love this desk, and it is ideal for someone like me who work a lot on the computer, but also uses pen and paper for drawing and sketching. I love the shape, the storage, the function and the material, - really, what's not to love? If you love it too, and want to learn more about Slope or the designer you have to visit www.jenk.no.

Platypus Chair

This beautiful wooden chair with a dash of color is called the Platypus Chair and it is designed by Studio Juju, and i love it! "This chair is inspired by the littlest things we carry out all the time, we wanted to create a chair where the user can fill himself into its space, and find something to do." is the designer's description of the chair. It is made out of Beech wood, and has the one arm painted in either a light blue or a medium grey.
As I said, I really love this chair. I always find myself liking furniture with a plain or neutral base with a little something extra to it. This chair has that in both color and structure. The chair stands out in the way it is constructed, in the lines and in the little color armrest. I can't find a thing that I don't like about this chair, and so this has become one of my new favorites.
If you like the Platypus Chair as much as I do, I would recommend you visit www.studio-juju.com!

Light Tray

This is the Light Tray and it is designed by new norwegian designer Andreas Engsvik with the help from Daniel Rybakken. Its a free standing tray, fixed light sources with hand blown tinted glass with different colors.
This light trey is so pretty, and I like the fact that the glass domes has different color shades and sizes. I also like the way the different colors go together and the expression they give. If you want to read more about this up and coming designer and his work, you have to visit www.andreasengesvik.no.

Arne Jacobsen Lamp

I found these wonderful pictures while looking for some pictures of this classic lamp by Arne Jacobsen for Louis Poulsen, the AJ lamp. You might have seen this lamp before, because they are shown a lot in interior magazines and in different homes. You can get the AJ lamp in floor lamps, wall lamps and table lamps and in a range of different colors! I love this lamp a lot and it is one of my classic favorites! Pronkkast Wardrobe

This amazing piece of furnishing is the Pronkkast Wardrobe and it is designed for Dik & Stijlloos by Mathilde Alders. This wardrobe is special because of the exhibitionistic twist, and its special storage and hanging systems. It allows you to enjoy your favorite clothes even when your'e not wearing them, and having them on display.
The shelves and hanging rails can be slid out from both sides to enable beautiful clothes to be seen, and all girls like to treat their favorite dress or top to be treated with the respect it deserves... Just kidding (sort of...). I like that theres a lot of hanging and storage, and the special features makes this a whole lot more unique and fun than a regular wardrobe.
Also the material and classic look of the wardrobe appeals to me, and will easily slide in with any other interior and home. This seems like a wardrobe that you can keep for a long, long time! I love this a lot, and I would like to have it at home. I love to have my clothes on display, and it is so cleaver with the opportunity to hang your bags and put away your shoes.
If you want to see and learn more about this beautiful, amazing and surprising wardrobe you have to visit www.dik-stijlloos.nl!

Roberts Radio

I love this retro Roberts Radio with flower print! Its made in the exact same way as the old one from the 50's, only with the newest technology and upgraded sound. You can get them in all sorts of colors, but this one really stood out for me. I've looked up different places they sell these radios, and the price varies from 3200-4000kr, but I think it's totally worth it. It's a beautiful, classic and never-out-of-style piece, so this would only be an investment. If you want to see the Robert Radios in different colors, visit www.hjemdesign.no or www.landromantikk.no for norwegian sights, or www.robertsradio.co.uk for international.

Neo-Barouque

Look at this amazing supersized chandelier! This is the Neo-Baroque from Atelier Abigail Ahern. It is made out of wire, and I think the result is so different and beautiful at the same time. I'm not the biggest fan of chandeliers, but this one i love! It has all the classic qualities to it only with a modern and new twist to it, just as I like it. I also like the fact that you can see the construction of a chandelier and how it is built up. You can get it in either white or metal grey, medium or large, and if you want to learn more you have to visit www.atelierabigailahern.com.
