Urban Collection

These chairs are the Urban Collection and they are designed by danish Søren Rørbæk for Oliver Furniture in 2010. This collection is specifically designed for teenagers, and it consists  of a table, a bench and a chair. The table is very simple, and it is designed for the modern teenager's bedroom. It can be used in a very feminine room, as well as in a rougher environment. The bench is perfect for sitting together while being in front of the computer. The chair is tiny and simple, and can easily be put a side. Even two chairs around a table will be discrete and take up minimal space. Oliver Furniture is even thinking about expanding the collection with a bed, other types of benches, racking and shelving. The collection in produced in two different sizes.

I really like this collection, and what I like the most about it is no surprise: The different colors you can choose from on the legs of the bench, chair and table. It's always a big plus when you can choose from a range of colors to best match your room or your home. Its an even bigger plus when the colors are as amazing as the colors the designer has chosen. The white top on all of the furniture is beautiful with a small angle, which makes the design even more special. The neutral and natural wooden color you can choose is perfect for a person that wants very delicate colors, and the strong and bright colors are perfect for someone who likes their home to stand out. Something for everyone!

Di Corte

This series of chairs are called Di Corte, and they are designed by Andrea Magnani, Giovanni Delvecchio and Elisabetta Amatori from Resign. The name Resign actually comes from Re Sign or the Re-use of sings, a creative re-combination of signs embedded in wasted objects and re-use of materials. And as you can see, these chairs look like they are going back to their roots (literally). Each piece is unique, but the main idea of the design always stays the same.
I think this design is very cleaver, and the obvious thing that makes these chairs special are that a part of them are covered in bark. Resign design studio focuses on the re-use of different materials, and I like that these chairs symbolize that the material used for these chairs once was a beautiful, large tree. This chair collection really brings you back to nature, and it gives you a piece of the natural look of the wood used for your furniture.

New Furniture Landskape

These tables are the New Furniture Landscape for Queen of Hoxton designed by Shai Akram and Andrew Haythornthwait from OKAY Studio Collective. They have designed and installed a new panorama of furniture at The Queen of Hoxton in London. Each of the tables legs have padded heat shrink 'socks' protecting them from the wear and tear they will face tables come in various shapes, heights and sizes to accommodate the various activities that occur in the bar setting.
I think these tables are very great, and I like that the designers have made a whole installation around them. The different colored bottom of the table-legs are great, and I like that each table has different shapes and sizes. They kind of remind me of a carpenter-bench, and I like when design can remind me of something familiar. I also like the visual bolts that hold the tables together. Rough and basic, but still pretty and visually stunning.

Soji

Soji is a series of daily use items and it is designed by japanese design studio Mute. This series consists of Sara (plate), Hako (stacking case), Wan (bowl) and Tutu (canister), and each piece is made from Sen (castor aralia) and is produced by Unomatudo.
The design studio Mute believes in producing products that are ordinary tools used in daily life, and not creating for decoration or solely for use on a special day. They want to design something with high function, something usable but something beautiful that you still can use without being afraid of damaging it. What is the point of owning something that you can't have the joy of using? The trick is the impeccable quality and materials that are durable.
This is a series that exhibits the natural beauty of the wood in which they are made, and takes great pride in old japanese carving traditions. The series is made with by Yamanaka who is famous for its carving wheel called Rokuro, and it is also treated with Yamanaka-shikki (japanese lacquer ware) which focuses on the technology of making great wooden objects. I would say that Yamanaka has succeeded!
I think that the Soji series is not only beautiful, but also very practical. Mute has done well with the idea of not considering the visual part of it, but also the practical part. I like that you can stack them and keep them as a group so that you can enjoy them with each other while not in use. The beauty of the natural wood is undeniable, but I like that they have used red as a pop-color as a bright contrast on some of the pieces of the series.

Marginal Notes

This is a collection from Note Design Studio and its called the Marginal Notes. This collection consists of seating, lighting and storage pieces, which all have popping and bright colors. The inspiration behind this collection came from the small doodles and sketches they found in the margins of their notebooks. The ones that occur intuitively and which are often disregarded and forgotten. They decided to play around a bit and took some of their sketches and transform them into reality.
This is the Tembo stool and high table. In Swahili "tembo" means elephant, and the inspiration for this name comes from the fact that one of the elephants legs always remains on the ground while walking. Due to their straight legs and pad-like feet, they have the ability to stand for a long period without getting tired. The Tembo table are stool is a construction of wooden, cork and metal elements, of combined hybrid shapes which overall take on a thickness in form similar to that of an elephants leg.
These two lamps are called Yesterday Island (the orange one) and Tomorrow Island (the mint one), and the inspiration for these lamps came from the forms of the Diomede islands located in the middle of the bering strait, situated between Alaska and Siberia. It was their awkward man-made separation that was a starting-point for the group. They are sometimes called "Tomorrow Island" (Big Diomede, Russian territory) and "Yesterday Island (Little Diomede, US territory) as their difference is 20 hours apart, even though they are as close as 3 kilometers from each other.
I could not find a name or description for this one, but it is actually my favorite! I guess these are vases or  candlesticks, and the things I like about them are the pastel colors on the top and the wooden base. I also like that the different colored ones come in different sizes and shapes, and I love the group together as well as apart. Beautiful, simple and special at the same time. Not bad for being a doodle in the margin of a notebook, huh?
This last design is called the Half-time Object, and I do not know what this is. Judging by its size, I think it is either a side-table or a stool, but it is not finished in process yet, and is not ready for using. This is one of the prototypes and sketches Note Design Studio developed during their process. They are considered the early seeds that influence the final objects. Though they are not fully functional yet, they were the catalysts for the collection and could be developed in to working pieces eventually.

Analog Group

This is the Analog Group and it is designed by Jonas Damon. Jonas is the Frog Design's Creative Director, and he came up with these three brilliant pieces to use with your Apple products. This is how he describes the idea- and building process of one of the pieces:
"Last summer I had some fun with my iPad, and built a wooden housing for it that was shaped like an old cathode-ray tube TV set, complete with the bump in the back. It found a nice following online, and also served as inspiration for a two other objects like it, rounding out my ‘Analog Group’."
This first one is called the Alarm Dock and it is an iPhone cradle that resembles an old-school flip clock. This is also a dock for your iPhone, so that you charge it while it works as a clock for you. You just buy a flip clock app for your phone, and it will look like the picture above. Love it!
This is the Radio Dock and it is a housing for either an iPod or an iPhone. It resembles an old radio, and is a portable dock. You just load your songs into your pod or phone, and the speakers in the wooden radio will work just as well as any other dock. Genius!
This last one called CRT and is the housing for the iPad. It is inspired by the old cathode-ray tube TV set, and I just love how Jonas Damon has taken such new and modern technology and put them together with familiar and classic pieces that once were high-tec electronics! I love, love, love the Analog Group, and I would love to own this series one day.

Klem Seating and Morse Wall Storage

These pieces of furniture are designed by Margarita García Münzer and Pål Jacob Jacobsen; otherwise know as Tuyo Studio. They have just shown up some of their newest furniture to their collection and they are called Klem Seating and Morse Wall Storage. The Klem chair and bench are both made of American white oak and come with colorful wool pillows. These pillows are available in different colors and sizes, and as you can see, some of them are yellow, blue, pink and grey.
The word "klem" actually means "hug" in norwegian, so I think thats such a cute name for seating with soft padding! I like that the natural, light oak goes so well together with the different colors, and the colorful wool pillows really brighten up the chair and the bench. I like the fact that you can mix and match pillows with different colors and different sizes, so that you get your seating exactly how you want it. Also the sleek and organic shape of the seating is beautiful to look at.
The Morse Wall Storage is mounted on the wall and is kind of a mix between a storage unit and and wall board. As you can see in the picture, you can put everything from papers to scarves in Morse, and you see right away that it is there (if you accidentally forget where you left it...). Like the Klem Seating, Morse is also made out of American oak. This wall storage is inspired by the language of morse code, and the textile ribbons that are woven through the modular boards can be re-arranged into different configurations to spell out hidden messages. This is such a fun idea, and again, I like that you can mix and match and get you wall storage just the way you want it. If you want to see more, you have to visit www.tuyodesign.com.

FildeFer Collection

This is the FildeFer Collection and it is designed by Alessandra Baldereschi for Italian company Skitsch. This is outdoor furniture taken to the next level with its appearance, by making them resemble traditional indoor furniture. The furnishing has typical wire frames that are made out of iron rods, but in some way the designer has created a 3D look of the chairs and tables. Amazing!
I think that the details on the chairs are very impressive, and especially the quilt-like pattern on the backrest. I'm also very impressed by the designer who has managed to make iron resemble upholstery, and still maintain the functionality of the chairs and tables. The FildeFer Collection is available in gray, green, blue and white and I personally like the blue ones the best! If you would like to know more about this collection you can visit either www.alessandrabaldereschi.com or www.skitsch.it.

Emeco 111 Navy Chair - Coca Cola Edition

This is a collaboration piece that Emeco has done with Coca Cola. They have taken the classic Emeco 111 Navy Chair (made from aluminum) and made a plastic version in Coca Cola style. These chairs are made out of 111 recycled plastic Coca Cola bottles.
"The 111 Navy Chair: When you recycle a plastic bottle, you're doing something good. When you recycle a 111 of them, you're doing something great. Help your bottles to become something extraordinary again."

I think this is a really great idea, and I think it is very cool when two big companies such as Emeco and Coca Cola does something like this together. This will without a doubt increase and inspire people to recycle, because it gives people a real thing to relate to when it comes to what you can do with recycled goods. If you want to read more about this cooperation, you have to visit www.emeco.net.

Acciaio Series

This is the Acciaio Series by Max Lipsey, and these lightweight steel chairs are inspired by the old-school bicycle. The word "acciaio" is Italian for steel, and these chairs are constructed from specialized, c tapered steel bicycle tubes and built with techniques from the bicycle frame-building craft.
They say that these chairs are surprisingly strong and light, and also slightly flexible so that you can lean back a little bit in the chair. The series contains a stool, a dining chair and a lounge chair and all three have seating witch is made out of leather and aluminum.
I think these chairs would be perfect as outdoors furniture, and I assume that these are durable due to the material being the same as on a bicycle. I love the fresh and beautiful colors, and the chairs gives me a "summer-ish" feeling, witch you got to like!
To read more about these wonderful chairs you have to visit www.lipsmax.net.
